Joe is an exceptional maths tutor, genuinely caring for his pupils’ best results. Joe took over my panic and worries when my son received a concerning mock result after Easter in Y12. My son initially didn’t want to have any extra tuition other than school lessons but he had no excuse after seeing the test result. Joe offered the first session free to assess his understanding not only in maths but also in other subjects. (I provided teachers’ reports so that he could understand him holistically.) My son finds Joe really helpful as he explains abstract mathematical concepts well. In his own words, ‘Joe helps me until I understands and make me work it out.’

Joe is excellent at teaching, and he also he provides very valuable tips and advice with patience through weekly emails with boards and questions he faithfully sends. Joe doesn’t just give sugar-coated encouraging words but offers real advice, sometimes with tough words, which I’m really grateful for because my son has laid been back for a long time.

Joe offers excellent pathways for those who need extra support to boost their results. Since my son didn’t study hard most of Y12, the summer holiday was a key moment to catch up on all the neglected topics. Joe provided a clear plan for the summer, especially how to utilise the limited time to turn the situation around. Each week, my son went through specific topics and practised under exam conditions to identify his areas of misunderstanding and mistakes. The early introduction of practice under timed conditions was a real winner, and my son was able to start Y13 on a strong footing. I highly recommend Joe’s structured summer plan for those who are panicking at the end of Y12.

Joe is very generous, allowing my son (who is currently going through the exams) to contact him with any questions or difficulties, which is greatly appreciated.

I also have my daughter. She is smart and hard-working who attended a grammar school but she struggled with maths at the beginning of Y12. She was frustrated with the subject because she couldn’t understand ‘why’ and was only memorising. I didn’t initially consider extra support for her, but once again, I learned my lesson from my son. Joe has taken over, and what a transformation! She used to dislike maths among her 4 A-level subjects, but now she really enjoys it. She says, ‘Joe is concise and efficient. He doesn’t waste time. For example, he covered all of Y13 calculus within one hour, which would possibly take a few weeks in school.’ (By the way she is now in Y12.) Since she is more enthusiastic about her studies than her brother, she gains a lot from him. Joe can unlock the full potential of his pupils by going beyond syllabus if they are ready.

I highly recommend Joe to anyone looking for a maths tutor, whether they have reluctant students like my son or enthusiastic student like my daughter. He will coach them while running alongside them. I also highly recommend Joe to any parents who worry and panicked about disappointing mock results of Y12.
